How can we help?

Find answers to common questions about recording, the teleprompter, cameras, captions, OneTake Pro, and saving your videos.

Getting started

OneTake Record is an iOS teleprompter and video recording app. It requires iOS 15.6 or later.

Camera and microphone access are required to record. Once those permissions are granted, core recording and the teleprompter can work without an internet connection.

Camera and microphone permissions

Camera access lets OneTake capture video, while microphone access lets it include audio. If you previously denied either permission, open iOS Settings and enable access for OneTake Record.

OneTake does not upload raw camera or microphone content to a OneTake server.

Scripts and teleprompter

Type or paste text into your current script, then clear or replace it whenever you need. The current script is stored locally on your device and persists between launches.

Script content is not automatically uploaded to OneTake. OneTake does not provide cloud sync or script history.

Using AI with your script

OneTake can prepare a prompt from your current topic or script. The prompt may include instructions for creating or improving the script and, where relevant, fitting a target recording duration. OneTake then opens the standard iOS share sheet.

You choose how and where to use the prompt. You can share or copy it, then use it with an AI app installed on your device, an AI service in your browser, or another compatible destination. OneTake does not automatically send the prompt to a particular AI provider or receive the generated result back. When you’re ready, copy or paste the resulting text into OneTake.

Voice Control and Smart Speed

Pause voice sync uses microphone level to detect speaking and silence, pausing or resuming teleprompter scrolling as you speak.

Smart Speed uses Apple Speech recognition to estimate your progress through the script and adjust teleprompter speed. The app requests on-device recognition through Apple’s supported speech framework. Speech-recognition permission may be required for Smart Speed and related features.

Recording duration

Depending on the access available to you, OneTake offers fixed recording durations and an open-ended recording mode. Choose a fixed duration when the video needs a defined length, or use open-ended recording where available.

Switching cameras

On supported configurations, you can switch between the front and rear cameras during one continuous recording. Recording continues while the selected camera changes.

Dual Camera and Picture-in-Picture

Supported devices can record with the front and rear cameras at the same time, with one camera shown as Picture-in-Picture. You can swap the main and Picture-in-Picture views while recording.

This feature requires an iPhone or iPad that supports simultaneous multi-camera capture. Availability depends on the device’s hardware capabilities.

Smart Captions

Smart Captions are generated locally from your teleprompter script and timing information. The current implementation does not upload the recording to a cloud transcription service, and captions are rendered into the exported video on your device.

Current styles are Classic, Boxed, Punch, and Comic. Caption style and color preferences are stored locally. Smart Captions are not AI transcription and do not provide automatic translation.

Saving videos

Recordings are prepared temporarily on your device. When a take is ready, choose Save to write the finished video to Photos or Discard to delete the prepared recording. Photos permission is required to save.

In the current implementation, OneTake does not read your existing photo or video library and does not upload saved recordings to its own server.

OneTake Pro

Pro access is handled through Apple StoreKit. Apple processes subscription purchases and restores, so OneTake does not receive your payment-card or bank-account details. Restore Purchases uses Apple’s purchase history and entitlement information to recover eligible access.

Try Pro for this take

When a rewarded video is available, watching it can grant temporary Pro access for your next take. The reward is used only when an actual recording begins. Cancelling before recording does not use it, and a technical recording failure returns it.

Temporary access ends after the take is completed, saved, or discarded. Rewarded ads require an internet connection and ad availability.
